Congrats to Scott Culiver for being named the September Ultimate Fit Runner of the Month! Scott is 56 years old and was born and raised in Evansville. He gets to do a job he loves everyday, a computer nerd for over 30 years. He also has 2 grown kids.
**What motivates you to run/walk? My health is my motivation after my dad's heart attack in 2004. **How many races have you participated in? Estimated over 350 races **What age did you start running/walking for fun & competitively? Ran track and CC in high school then took off until 2006. I am no longer competitive other than with my previous best times. **Favorite place to run/walk? Fav place to run on any beach. **Favorite local race? EVV 1/2 **Favorite race outside of the Tri-State? Chicago Marathon. **Farthest you have traveled to do a race? Portland OR for a muddy buddy. **Favorite race distance? 10k **Favorite race memory? to many great ones **Funniest race memory? Funniest memory invokes Shari Kirkpatrick at the Fort Worth marathon. Ask Shari to tell you the story **Craziest thing you saw at or during a race? Craziest thing was at the scales lake Tri. Guys bike broke down 11 miles from transition. He ran all 11 miles in bike shoes then ran a 10k after that. **Favorite pre & post-race meal/drink? Pre race is cinnamon bagel with peanut butter. Post race chocolate milk 14. **What is your favorite brand of running shoe? Brooks **How many miles do you run/walk a week? Average 20 a week unless training for longer race than up to 40 miles. **What are your future goals for running/walking? Stay injury free and have fun. Maybe I will still be able to run in my 70' **Favorite time of day to run? Love to run on Saturday mornings early. Mainly so I can get in a nap. **Favorite weather to run in? Spring and Fall when the humidity is lower. **Music or no music? Music only if running more than an hour alone.
